16 So Maccabaeus rounded up his crew—six thousand strong—and told them not to freak out over the enemy or the massive horde of pagans who showed up to mess with them, but to fight with honor, keeping in mind the desecration of the holy place, the city turned into a joke, and the destruction of the way their ancestors lived.
