1 The leaders of the Gileadite clans—Machir's line, Manasseh's branch, part of Joseph's crew—stepped up to Moses and the Israelite chiefs to drop this: The Lord commanded my lord to parcel out the land to the Israelites by lot, and specifically ordered him to hand Zelophehad's daughters his inheritance.
