8 You, Lord, promised repentance and forgiveness to us sinners because of your goodness; your infinite mercy set up repentance so we could be saved, and you, God of the just, didn't set it up for the righteous like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who didn't mess up, but you set it up for me, a sinner.
