5 Before he even turned to leave, the captain said, "Head back to Gedaliah, son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan—appointed by the Babylonian king to rule Judah's cities—stick with him and the people, or hit the road wherever you feel led." Then the guard handed over rations and a gift, and let him walk free.
